GELDING

Phoenix

Phoenix is a gentle Draft Cross gelding with a quiet strength and a story of resilience. Born in 2007, his life began as an Amish workhorse, where he spent his early years working hard and doing what was asked of him.

When Phoenix lost sight in one eye, everything changed. No longer viewed as useful, he was sent to auction. The person who purchased him did not realize he was blind in one eye, but a later owner noticed that something seemed wrong and had him evaluated. That testing revealed the truth about his vision loss.

Despite all he has been through, Phoenix remains a kind and willing horse. He has his quirks, including a fear of fly spray, but he is still the same gentle soul who wants to please.

Phoenix now lives safely at the rescue, where he receives the care, patience, and understanding he deserves. He requires sedation for farrier work and remains under veterinary monitoring for a chronic cough, but he continues to do well with the support of his rescue family.

Unless the perfect person comes along who truly understands his needs, Phoenix will remain at the rescue, surrounded by safety, kindness, and love. After a life of being judged by what he could no longer do, Phoenix is finally seen for who he is: a sweet, deserving horse with so much heart.
